Materials PlannerReporting to: Supply Chain Manager / Project Manager - EV AutomotiveJob OverviewTo ensure both project specific and day-to-day components are available for assembly as required by the customer due date, while maintaining optimum levels of cost control, quality & sustainable on time customer delivery.ResponsibilitiesSchedule and plan the supply of all the components ahead of production required dateGeneration and placement of purchase orders ensuring best price and serviceManage minimum safety stock levels considering all necessary factors (supply bottleneck, production halt etc) Monitor inventory levels regularlyMinimise obsolete stock to ensure the business is left with minimum liabilityUtilise MRP system ensuring data is accurate and up to date.* Prepare relevant quarter and annual forecasts (master planning, orders synchronisation)Establish Kanban inventory management system ensuring that necessary stock is available at required times, ensuring bottlenecks in the workflow are avoided (internal & external)Ownership of processes to improve flow, visibility, productivity, inventory managementLiaise with the engineering department for necessary BOM updatesIncorporate necessary downstream actions (stock levels, inventory management) coming from Engineering Change Notes (ECNs)Prepare the Work Instructions for the production team against acknowledged ordersEngage with suppliers; monitoring and evaluating their performance according to lead times, delivery times, quality and costEffective communication with all stakeholders internally and externally (suppliers, customers etc)Ensure defective products follow rejection path following IATF16949 procedureExplore ways for continuous development/optimisation of the processesAd-hoc duties in line with business requirementsOccasional site and supplier visits may be required.TargetsTo ensure that a high-quality standard is maintained in the supply chain.KPIs are met and right first-time delivery achieved.SkillsAn excellent communicator, both written and verbal, with the ability to deal effectively with a wide range of individualsKnowledge of Kanban System benefits and methods of implementationPro-active and flexible approach to workload.A highly organised, self-starting logical thinker with positive work ethic and a desire to get the job done.Able to remain enthusiastic, positive, and helpful in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.Must excel at working in a team environmentGood knowledge of the technical aspects of manufacturing and engineering.Able to use computerised industrial and management toolsComputer literate; able to use MS Office Suite.Proven experience in a similar role preferable within the automotive industryManufacturing process environments experience (ideally automotive Tier1)Operate within IATF 16949 upstream processesSupply chain managementLean Six-Sigma (Green Belt)The ability to read and interpret Engineering drawings.
