Machine Setter OperatorManual Lathes NOT CNCLeicesterFull Time / Part Time Permanent Position£14 to £15.50 per hour (dependant on experience) + enhanced overtime payments & benefits (holiday, pension etc.)Free parking and close to bus routesIs This YouAre you familiar with “old school” traditional engineeringAre you able to set an operate manual machinesDo you have experience of manual Wickman machines – single and multi-spindle – with rotary transfer or similarDo you have knowledge of all-purpose machining and traditional workshop equipmentIf this is you, then we need to speak.OpportunityI’m recruiting for an established Leicester manufacturer, who are also part of a larger group.Due to growth and an impending retirement of a long-serving member of the team, they now require a permanent Machine Setter and Operator, who’s familiar with manual lathes, not CNC, and ideally with exposure to Wickman single and multi-spindle type machines.Their manufacturing facility is based in Leicester, close to the main bus routes, and they may consider full or part-time applications for this role.Working as part of a small team you’ll be setting, operating and monitoring multiple machines, along with ensuring any issues are dealt with in a timely fashion. This may involve speaking with others in the team or the maintenance function so that up-timeis maximised. You’ll also ensure the quality of the tooling and any changes or adjustments necessary during the runs/batch work, as well as recording activities.Having been established for almost 100 years, and through a few changes in name, they are responsible for manufacturing safety critical components, so quality and accuracy is key. This is a days role with overtime at enhanced rates, if you want overtime.FinallyIf you have the skills mentioned above, are familiar with traditional manufacturing engineering and feel you can add something to the business, please apply, telling me why you would fit and I’ll be in touch with those that most suit the needs of the position.I may also be in touch with anything else that may suit.Although there is flexibility on full-time or part-time, it is expected that you will be within a reasonable commute of the Leicester site. We will not be replying to those who would have an excessive commute, or would need to relocate.
