We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Linux Systems Engineer to join our client, one of the largest providers of education management software in the UK. This is a remote role with a salary of £40,000.In this role, youll be joining a company that influences the lives of over one million people every day through a range of web and mobile (iOS, Android) products that are built on the SIMS management information system.Due to continued growth, our client is now looking to recruit a Linux Systems Engineer to support the applications used to deliver Hosted Services to customers. You will have a high customer focus being actively involved in the support and development of theservice including: the resolution of support cases; live service monitoring and maintenance; new service provision and continuous improvement projects.Job Specification* Contribute to the planning of application/infrastructure releases and configuration changes* Resolve support requests from customers by phone, email and online making use of the call logging system* Interact with internal teams and external 3rd party vendors to trouble shoot and resolve complex problems* Provide input to administering and maintaining all production and internal environments* Design appropriate metrics for reporting on key performance and quality indicators, particularly in terms of in-depth trend analysis* Perform new hosted service implementations* Patching and upgrade of existing applications* 2 weeks on-call rotation supporting key services out of hoursExperience required* Previous experience of designing and implementing Highly available, Load balanced Web applications (Linux & Apache)* Renewing SSL certificates* HAproxy/Keepalived administration* Web server configuration (apache 2.2/2.4 and nginx)* Deploy, monitor, maintain the Capita hosted Chorus infrastructure* Logging/Analysis - ELK (Elasticsearch/Logstash/Kibana, syslog-ng/rsyslog)If you like the sound of this role and have the experience and skills listed above then we want to hear from you!Please note.
