Job Description

HI and VI Specialist Teaching Assistant

  • Are you a current Teaching Assistant wanting to explore supporting Hearing or Visually Impaired Learners
  • Do you have any form of Childcare / social work/ care work/Youth work experience and genuinely want to work with Hearing/ Visual Impaired young people
  • Have you supported visually/ hearing impaired relatives or friends
  • Or – are you a Speech Therapy or Psychology Graduate looking for Further experience
  • Or – do you hold any BSL Qualifications and want to work within a school setting
If any of the above refer to you – please read on !We are recruiting for a lovely local specialist setting , who are dedicated to improving the outcomes of pupils in their care who are visually and hearing impaired. The school is dedicated to delivering high quality learning to their students and require motivatedand pro-active Teaching assistants to join their friendly and supportive team. This role involves supporting 1:1 , your pupil is likely to be between 6-16 years old, but school will match you really carefully. You will work really closely with the class teacher who will plan sessions that are activity based along with academic work. Youwill be part of a very effective wider team of support staff who share ideas and techniques all day long. Training in non-verbal communication techniques are preferred but school will give comprehensive training and refresher sessions for any successful applicants.This role is really about the person fit – we need kind, hard working and committed individuals who genuinely want to upskill and can build trust and rapport with young people. In this role you will explore lots of different and creative ways to tap intodifferent senses to help with learning such as touch, feel, bright visuals , sounds and many other dynamic methods . The school’s hours of this role are 8.30am - 4pm . You will work Monday- Friday , Term Time only. The school is really easy to reach by either car or Public Transport . We ask that you -

  • Are in Possession of an enhanced DBS on the update service or are willing to do an immediate application
