Job Description

RSR Justice is a market leading recruitment business dedicated to providing top quality candidates and services to the offender rehabilitation and supervision work sectors.RSR Justice are currently recruiting for a Debt Advisor for an organisation that help ex-offenders, prisoners, and those at risk of offending to live crime-free.This is a permanent role, based in the East Midlands (Leicester).Purpose of the RoleYou will work with ex-offenders who have a range of debt issues to support them with their transition back into the community through specialist financial advice and guidance. You will need to be knowledgeable on benefits, available support services, aswell as advising and guiding individuals in making well informed and realistic decisions.You will liaise with a number of different stakeholders and professional bodies to support and casework Clients with debt issues.Main duties and responsibilities

  • Identifying and engaging with offenders with a range of significant debt issues, and with multiple barriers to resettlement.
  • As an experienced advisor you will assist clients, to obtain information, providing advice and guidance on priority and non-priority debts, budgeting, and informing clients of available options and what would be in their best interests. You will also adviseon and complete DROs. Bankruptcy applications and financial statements and other documentation as required.
  • Assist clients in completing benefit checkers to determine their eligibility for benefits entitlement and signposting to access benefits and specialist benefit support agencies. Building effective relationships with external agencies to maintain good relationshipsand maximise successful outcomes and share good practice
  • Delivering both tailored group based training sessions for clients, alongside one to one based case work
  • Working closely with local stakeholders and agencies including National Probation Service
  • Keeping records efficiently and in line with the needs and requirements of the prime contractor, HMPPS and with internal policies and procedures
  • Reporting interventions, communications and outcomes as required, including relevant systems and updating paperwork required
  • Updating, information sharing and case conferencing with any relevant financial support agencies in the local area
  • Working closely with local stakeholders and agencies including National Probation Service
  • Organising own diary and manage time effectively on a day to day basis
  • Working in partnership with the contract manager to ensure compliance with the Lone Worker Policy and Procedure
  • Ensuring that all participants receive a quality service at all times
Person Specification
  • You will have been trained and achieved as a minimum, the CMAs MAS accredited "generalist" training certificate or equivalent.
  • Demonstrable experience of working in financial and debt advice
  • Demonstrable experience of managing extensive client debt casework and completing DROs and Bankruptcy applications, IVAs, Payments Agreements and contracts.
  • Good understanding of the consequences of non-payment of priority debts, court fines.
  • Able to provide informed advice that is fully compliant with the FCA, CONC regulation and best practice.
