Business Intelligence - Technical Solution SupportContext Recruitment is excited to be working with a large market-leading multinational group who provide services to millions of people internationally daily. Several openings for Technical Solution Support Analysts to join them as part of a new team within their centralised IT function, supporting, developing and continuously improving BI solutions across the group; full end-to-end stack, from data warehouses, ETL, through to BI visualisation products.This is a rare opportunity to work with a variety of businesses in a major group environment, utilising best-in-class Business intelligence tech, providing a broad range of solutions with significant business impact, without having to work for a consultancy!Until recently our client was outsourcing delivery and support of solutions within this Business Intelligence programme to a 3rd party, however following poor delivery and performance the decision has been made to in-source the capability, building out a new BI support team, responsible for supporting the platform (on Amazon Redshift) underpinning Business Intelligence solutions across the group.What will you be doingUltimately you will work to support standardized enterprise platforms, systems, and processes across all group companies Europe-wide, to improve data assets and help the businesses to make better use of data (i.e. BI solutions across all of the businesses and their functions). Primarily your work will be focused on supporting the production platform underpinning BI Solutions.The team will be focused on both support and solutioning. The initial focus will be on stabilising and problem-solving any issues occurring across the current solution landscape; getting everything up to speed and running smoothly. This will involve providing support to the groups businesses / end-users with all things related to the BI/Data platform and databases and the associated systems. Beyond this, the team will be freed up to consult across the business, delivering further solutions and enhancing current solutions across all business functions. The position will involve a great deal of variety, integrating data from a range of source systems, with a broad range of outputs and data visualisation tools / dashboards to drive data led decision making at all levels.Key job functions will include (varying depending on level within the team);* Dealing with all requests for support in-line with set standards and procedures* Managing application enhancements to improve the group functions performance* Drafting and maintaining procedures and documentation for applications support* Organizing performance data and providing reports and proposals for improvement, to specialists, end-users and team managers.* Advising on application security, upgrades, licensing, backups, and disaster recovery requirements* Anticipating, identify, evaluating and resolving complex issues/problems* Utilising your knowledge of data warehousing to analyse data architectures and solve any potential issues.* … and much more, including opportunity to get involved in solutioning/implementation workThe working hours are between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday, working a 35 hours week. Start and finish times are therefore staggered between the team and staff choose what working hours work best for them. There is also a requirement to provide incident cover; 1 in 12 weeks on call (additional pay for being on call and time back in lieu if actually called out).What is our client looking forOur client would love to see people with:* Previous experience of supporting production systems/platforms in a formal, ticketed way* Data warehousing skills and experience* Experience and technical skills (SnapLogic, Pentaho, Python etc) to extract data from a range of source systems* Exposure to ERP type systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle) from a database perspective (e.g. database structures and investigating data)* Experience of programming languages, i.e. SQL, PL/SQL, Java etc* Experience of dealing with data access requests.* Understanding of infrastructure technologies from an applications support perspective e.g. AWS, Azure, Linux or PowerShell scripting & SFTP* Experience with a cloud stack e.g. AWS or Azure (However not essential, this is a great opportunity gain cloud experience)* Ideally experience with front-end data visualisation reporting products such as Birst, PowerBI, Tableau, Business Objects or other.
