Job Description

360 Recruitment are a specialist Technology recruiter, currently recruiting for a Voice Operations Engineer to join one of the fastest-growing MSPs in the UK. Role:Voice Operations EngineerSalary:£DOE + Benefits (Circa £50,000, if your salary is higher please let us know)Permanent Role:Full Time - PermanentLocation:Remote work About the Role: Reporting to the Voice Engineering Head, our client is looking for an experienced Voice Engineer who will be responsible for operating and maintaining large scale telecommunication networks.The successful candidate will provide the in-life support, operations, and maintenance of our carrier-class voice platforms handling several billion minutes a year, along with the implementation of new products and services.Main Responsibilities:

  • Use your legacy voice knowledge to help us transform and simplify our voice network estate by retiring our TDM network and moving to an All IP voice network ahead of the PSTN switch-off in 2025.
  • Responsible for in-life support, operations, and maintenance of our carrier-class voice platforms.
  • Providing 3rd line technical support to our customers and internal teams.
  • Interoperability testing with other carriers and customers.
  • Work closely with Voice Architects to trial and implement new products and services.
  • Liaise with external partners and vendors for troubleshooting, upgrades, or installation.
  • Knowledge sharing with 2nd line support teams to improve customer experience.
  • Part of an on-call rota providing out of hours platform support.
Experience:
  • Excellent skills using Wireshark for analysis of call traces.
  • Excellent knowledge of SIP and RTP protocols
  • Strong knowledge and experience of legacy voice technologies (TDM) and protocols (SS7/C7, ISUP, IUP & INAP)
  • Understanding of IP networks.
  • Ability to focus and work well under pressure.
  • Excellent problem solving & troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of carrier-class voice platforms - ideally Metaswitch or Ribbon (Sonus/Genband)
  • Strong understanding of audio codecs, transcoding & transrating.
Desirable Experience ( Not Essential)
  • Knowledge and experience of Unified Communications and Contact Centre platforms
  • Knowledge and experience of Intelligent Voice Platforms
  • Knowledge and experience of Hosted Voice and PBX technologies
  • Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Teams Direct Routing or Operator Connect
  • Experience in network management tooling & automation
