Job Description

Technical Manager vacancy in West Yorkshire, suitable for someone with metal presswork experience who is looking to take ownership of the Technical Engineering department in a market leading manufacturing business.Client DetailsMichael Page Engineering & Manufacturing are working with a highly successful, industry leading, specialist manufacturing business who are looking for a Technical Manager for their West Yorkshire facility based in Leeds.This opportunity comes as the business is continuing to grow and they are looking for a driven and passionate individual capable of managing customer requests, NPD projects and an experienced toolroom team.DescriptionThe Technical Manager will primarily lead a growing toolroom, liaise external customers to create new product development with have responsibility for:

  • Developing technical requirements and solutions with both internal and external customers
  • Managing new product introduction and developing design briefs alongside Sales and Marketing Managers
  • Providing technical support, motivation, training and leadership to all their employees
  • Selecting and liaising with subcontract toolmakers on all aspects of tooling refurbishment, tooling design, manufacture and implementation
  • Implementing and managing continuous improvement and modern manufacturing principals
  • Driving performance improvement through management of relevant KPIs
ProfileSuccessful candidates will possess:
  • A relevant apprenticeship and experience in a toolmaking manufacturing environment
  • A hands-on management style with a proven skillset in managing, coaching and developing a team beneath you
  • An analytical mindset and a pragmatic problem-solving approach
  • A proven ability to work alongside colleagues in other departments to ensure cohesion across the business, with regards to new and existing product development
  • A demonstrable background with CAD and/or CAM
  • Ability to work under pressure and within tight deadlines
Job Offer
  • £50-60k, depending upon experience
  • Car or car allowance
