Job Description

Your new roleSupplier Development ManagerWe are recruiting for a critical role for the delivery of the 3-year C&P strategy which will support the delivery of National Highways Roads Investment Strategy 2020-25 (RIS2), bringing benefits to Major Projects (MP) and Operations (Ops). This willbe achieved by providing forward looking supplier intelligence, supplier engagement, building capability around supplier risk management and driving forward key government agendas such as modern slavery, SMEs and skills. This will reduce risks to the deliveryof MP and Ops programmes, protect/build our reputation and maximise value from our investment programmes.What youll be doing

  • Support delivery of the supply chain strategies allocated to Supply Chain Division through the 3-year C&P Improvement Plan and support others across C&P where needed.
  • Engage stakeholders at a senior level to deliver the 3-year strategies, including senior leaders in National Highways, the supply chain and trade associations.
  • Lead in the development of Highways Englands supply chain in accordance with our imperatives and strategic principles.
  • Ensure National Highways supply chain are aligned with existing and new government strategies and targets. Examples could include: Employment and Skills. Modern Slavery, Net Zero Carbon, SME development, Social Value and the importance having a diversesupply chain.
  • Support the implementation and delivery of our supplier development system across NH supply chain and engage with senior supply chain leaders to create supplier development plans to drive improvements in supplier performance, capability and inform the developmentof their business strategies with National Highways.
  • Provision of analysis to inform the wider business in terms of opportunities, supplier and market risk and potential development areas for innovation to support the delivery of RIS2 and RIS3. The intelligence must be actionable and support decision makingin the businesses that deliver better value through supply chain management.
  • Ensure that the Supply Chain Division and the Supply Chain deliver their objectives associated with the Highways England Home Safe and Well Plan.
  • Programme manage the engagement of external consultancy support and their associated budgets and financial reporting and management as required.
  • Promote an environment of collaboration within own team as well as establishing strong connections within the Supply Chain Division and C&P in order to encourage exchange of new ideas and best practices.
