Job Description

Senior Quantity SurveyorSalary starting from £50,000Car allowance of £6,500 p.a.Up to 10% bonusPermanent contract 40 hours per weekLeeds, Thorpe ParkWe are looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to start immediately within our Commercial Team at Northern Gas Networks. The successful applicant will form part of a close knit, dynamic team and will be required to lead and supportthe other Quantity Surveyors and Assistant Quantity Surveyors in maximising commercial value, reducing risk to the business and assisting with the delivery of all specific business outputs and targets. The role will be responsible for providing commercialsupport and advice across multiple construction projects within our Energy Futures and Capital Programme. Our projects include a mix of mechanical, civil, electrical and instrumentation works where we are either replacing or refurbishing our gas assets.The Senior Quantity Surveyor role will be full time and will involve a mixture of both home and of-fice working. Any required office working shall be from our offices at Thorpe Park, Leeds. There will be the requirement to visit one or more of our gas sitesas and when the need arises.The projects are predominantly based on a bespoke NEC4 Option A and E contracts and we are looking for someone who is proactive in administering the contract, is commercially astute and can present commercial challenge with facts and data. Excellent communicationand interpersonal skills are also important to us.Your key accountabilities and responsibilities will include• Developing commercial and procurement strategies and drafting of commercial agreements to manage risk and deliver costs within budgets• Compliance with NGN governance, policies and procedures• Preparation of budgets, forecasts and accruals and accurate financial reporting• Challenge & manage cost control and provide cost mitigation measures where appropriate• Undertake contract administration, including payments and change management and maintain associated registersWhat we are looking for• Must have a minimum of 5 years Quantity Surveying / Senior Quantity Surveying or otherwise appropriate experience and previous gas industry experience is preferable, utility sector experi-ence is essential• Must work well with others and form strong relationships within the team• Commercially astute with good knowledge of all NEC Forms of Contract with detailed understand-ing of regulatory frameworks• Computer literate with strong skills in Microsoft Office Applications (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint)• Good communication skills including the ability to negotiate and communicate clearly with others with excellent organisation and record keeping skills• MRICS would be advantageous• Full UK driving licenseWhat we offer you• A competitive salary starting from £50,000 per annum (depending on experience)• Car allowance - £6,500• 40 hours per week• Up to 10% bonus (dependent upon achievement of set targets)• 25 days annual leave (plus recognised bank holidays and 2 half days over the Christmas period)• SSP for first 7 calendar days then occupational sick pay• A generous stakeholder 5/10 pension scheme• Flexible benefits and salary sacrifice options... from discounts on a variety of UK attractions, gym membership, restaurant discounts, experience days...and much more.• An array of fantastic family- friendly policies such as 6 weeks paternity leave (for eligible employ-ees) and 6 months full pay for employees on maternity leave (for eligible employees), as well as shared parental leave and many more!We are ...
