Job Description

About UK Infrastructure BankWe are the new, government-owned policy bank - launched in June 2021 - providing £22bn of infrastructure finance and partnering with the private sector and local government to finance a green industrial revolution and drive growth across the United Kingdom.We are looking for skilled and results oriented individuals who are motivated to help us build the UKIB into an industry-leading institution.Job PurposeTo manage and develop Treasury strategy actions, optimising the Bank’s balance sheet to maximise its potential impact to the UK economy and protect against prudential risks. Proactively identify and communicate risks and opportunities to relevant stakeholdersand influence optimal outcomes for the business. Act as a key support and deputise for the Head of Treasury & financial Operations on Treasury matters.Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert insight and recommendations to protect against prudential risks and influence the Treasury Strategy to optimise the balance sheet approach.
  • Ensure the effective articulation of the Bank’s balance sheet metrics to internal and external stakeholders (ExCo, line management, Board, Shareholder)
  • Develop, deliver and evaluate the metrics and measurements needed by the business and functional leaders to be able to deliver on the Bank’s strategy and inform effective decision making.
  • Develop the narrative supporting the analysis based on the guiding principle of transparency
  • Develop and deliver creative visual presentations to inform the Bank’s stakeholders (including internal management and shareholder) of the Bank’s progress against its mandate and strategy in an understandable form.
  • Be the subject matter expert of market risks to support the Bank’s investment decisions.
  • Challenge and influence discussions and decisions to optimise the Bank’s balance sheet and delivery of strategic objectives
  • Lead as a trusted Treasury business partner with functional areas including finance, risk, portfolio and investment, through expert understanding of balance sheet risks and opportunities.
  • Research and understand potential investment transactions and resulting impacts on all aspects of financial risks to produce meaningful insights and identify improvement opportunities
  • Identify and implement improvements to Treasury management information to ensure the suite remains relevant and insightful.
  • Collaborate with the Treasury and Financial Operations, and Financial Control teams to understand and translate functional activity into reporting requirements and solutions
  • Lead, coach and manage a high performing and engaged team to deliver on Treasury framework.
Knowledge, Experience and Skills:Knowledge:
  • Strong financial acumen.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, management, or finance.
  • Treasury or Accounting Qualification.
  • Knowledge of project finance is desirable.
Experience:
  • Significant experience in Treasury management and/or market risk.
  • Experience in working with a broad range of stakeholders with varying levels of financial acumen, and developing and adapting reporting to suit stakeholder needs in an understandable, digestible way.
  • A track record of gathering and communicating insights and intelligence to drive decisions and outcomes in how a business is managed.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining complex financial models.
  • Experience managing a small team.
Skills:
  • Demonstrable capability for critical thinking and assessment
  • Strong analytical, presentation (written and verbal) and numeracy skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with a range of key stakeholders.
  • Strong reporting skills, with the ability to break down technical information into a consumable form.
  • Strong capabilities and experience in using automated reporting solutions (eg. Power BI) to create dashboards and presentation packs.
  • Strong attention to detail and well organised; ability to prioritise, multi-task and work well under pressure.
  • Demonstrable ability to work in an agile manner, and adapting in an organisation that is growing and changing.
  • Self-motivated; capable of taking initiative without prompting.
  • Strong problem-solving techniques, including the ability to identify, research and resolve unfamiliar issues.
  • Ability to motivate and manage staff.
