The Authority develops and delivers policies, programmes and services which directly benefit the 2.3 million people who call WestYorkshire home.We are seeking new Finance team members to support the Mass Transit Directorate in the delivery of the programme.The Role:Acting as an advisor to leadership, supporting business decision making through a combination of analytical insights and strategic acumen, you will work closely with Directorates to break down the barrier between finance and management to support organisationalgrowth and delivery of objectives.Reporting into Head of Finance your key responsibilities will include:
  • Developing and overseeing the Directorate business partnering function, ensuring the Director and all budget holders within the Directorate are fully supported in their financial understanding through the provision and interpretation of meaningful financialinformation
  • Providing Directorates with both challenge and support, helping to deliver innovative solutions to funding problems
  • Driving change in behaviour of budget holders and supporting organisational growth
  • Establishing regular performance review processes with Directorates, understanding performance and driving management action
  • Providing detailed financial insight to link financial and business strategies, supporting organisational budgeting, forecasting and reporting
  • Embedding within Directorates financial controls and control processes
  • Identifying process inefficiencies and driving improvement programmes
About You:You will have the following key skills, attributes, education and experience
  • Relevant Degree or Degree level qualification
  • Significant and demonstrable senior level practical experience
  • A qualified accountant and member of a Consultative Committee of Accounting body (CCAB) or of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)
  • Practical experience of successfully performing in a similar role
  • Demonstrable experience of managing and championing change successfully
  • Strong communication skills with the proven ability to influence, negotiate and challenge
  • Experience of making compelling business cases/ reports to a range of audiences
