Job Description

Senior Estimator - Required for my client in their Leeds office. The successful candidate will have experience in Rail/Civil Engineering, earthworks, sour works, structures and piling.The Senior Estimator will provide advice on new tenders, and produce appropriate documentation for inclusion that meet client and industry accepted standards. This will include preparing information and bill of quantities / schedule of rates for tender applications.It is vital that the Senior Estimator has a minimum of 5 years relevant experience in Civil Engineering Construction or a relevant industry.Senior Estimator Position Overview

  • Attend site visits for re-measure of contracts.
  • Prepare valuations including for any additional works.
  • Review as requested estimates / information from subcontract to ensure it adequately caters for the work being proposed.
  • Analyse and evaluate contract performance and budgets in accordance with company systems and procedures.
  • Ensure estimates for work take adequate account of applicable legislation and recognised industry standards on health, safety, quality and environment.
  • Provide information as necessary to the Commercial Director for inclusion in reports to Board of Directors.
  • Produce documentation for tenders that contain sufficient provision for meeting applicable legislation and recognised industry standards on health, safety, quality and environment.
  • Comply with health and safety requirements applicable for the work place.
Senior Estimator Position Requirements
  • 5-10 years relevant experience in Estimating, within the Civil Engineering Construction or relevant industry
  • HNC / HND / Degree in Engineering discipline
  • Railway / Civil Engineering knowledge
  • Knowledge of various contract types, for example, NEC, JCT, ECC and NWR
  • Strong experience with Estimating software
  • Experience in Bill of Quantities / take-offs
  • The ability to derive Schedule of Rates
  • Experience in competitive bidding
  • The ability and confidence to price projects
  • Strong Excel skills
Senior Estimator Position Remuneration
  • Salary: £43k-£65k DOE
