Job Description

Reed Accountancy have an excellent opportunity for an Economic Development Officer within the public sector based in Leeds. This is a temporary position, paying £16.25 per hour. It is not yet clear the duration of the role as this will be looked at on a week to week basis. This is a Full time position also with flexible hours.This position is remote working only and you will be part of a small team who are administering a discretionary grant budget, designed to help businesses particularly in the retail/hospitality/leisure sector & associated supply chains who have been severely impacted by the Covid- 19 pandemic.Accountabilities of the position:

  • To produce a written appraisal of each request for assistance against the agreed grant criteria. Each appraisal will involve the following steps :
  • Liaising with the grant applicant and gathering information on fixed business costs, sales, the current trading position and future forecastsUtilising credit referencing tools and other information to astain whether the grant applicant is a “going concern”Producing a report which provides a summary of the current trading position and analyses information gathered to make a recommendation to approve or reject the grant application.
  • To provide further assistance to the grant applicant by referring them to other sources of business assistance in the public and private sectors.
  • Seeking to build an ongoing relationship with the client to help them access business support and wider help to improve their chances of business survival.
  • Skills , knowledge & experience:
  • Previous experience working in a support/advisory role with small businesses
  • A good understanding of small business finance and the ability to read & interpret business management accounts
  • A good communicator able to quickly build on a remote basis trust /confidence/ ongoing relationship with owner managers.
  • Able to produce concise written reports to a high standard
  • Empathy with and a good understanding of common small business issues
  • Knowledge of publicly funded/private sector business support
  • A self starter able to work remotely with a minimal level of supervision
  • Excellent time management skills, an ability to quickly prioritise and manage a large client caseload
  • Able to draw on other transferable skills and knowledge from related fields such as
