Job Description

RadiographerFull-timeAs an Army Radiographer, youll help to keep our soldiers and their families fit and healthy by carrying out scans and x-rays using modern medical equipment. Youll work in a range of environments, from large medical centres on Army bases and in intensive careunits or emergency departments to field hospitals on operations abroad. You dont need to have a background in medicinewell fund your professional training and teach you everything you need to know about being a radiographer and a soldier.Find where you belong.WORLD-CLASS TRAININGIf you want to be a Radiographer, youll start with your initial military training which will teach you how to be a soldier - this will cover everything from fieldcraft to how to handle a rifle. Your initial training will be at either Pirbright or Winchesterand last for 14 weeks.Youll then take a three-year BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography degree at Birmingham City University. You will also be assigned to a Defence Medical Group Hospital where you will put your classroom-based learning to good, practical use. If you are alreadyqualified as a Radiographer, youll move straight to your new role with your unit.GAIN QUALIFICATIONSArmy Radiographers have the potential to gain postgraduate qualifications throughout their career in areas such as Computed Tomography.SHOW PEOPLE WHAT YOURE CAPABLE OFWell be with you every step of the way as you move up the ranks. From the moment you begin your training youll get all the support and encouragement you need to make a success of your career. Work hard and youll soon get promoted, which means more responsibilityand extra pay.Become a Radiographer and youll:- Earn £15,985 during training. When your training is finished, and you join your Unit, pay will rise to over £20,400- Receive subsidised accommodation and facilities, increasing your disposable income- Receive free medical and dental health cover- Have the continuous access promotional opportunity and to continually progress your career- Be sponsored to earn valuable civilian-recognised qualifications- Take part in Adventurous Training and be able to play your favourite sports.BELONG TO SOMETHING THAT MATTERS.You should be:

  • Regular Army age: 16.635.6 years
  • Army Reserve age:New enlistments: 17.943 yearsEx-Regular: 17.952 yearsSpecialist (Soldier): 17.950 years
Qualifications youll need:STUDENT: Five GCSEs Grade AC/9-4 in at least English Language, Maths and two sciences 120 UCAS Points You must pass specialist Army Radiography selectionFitness requirements:
  • Mid-Thigh Pull 46kg
  • Medicine Ball Throw 2.9m
  • 2km run 11m 15s (11m30s for Junior Entry)
