Job Description

My client is a well-established manufacturer of LED Lighting based in the Leeds area. They are looking for a Product Designer to develop & design new products within a structured and disciplined process to increase their product range to support increasedsales and profit.Product Design Engineer - Lighting / Metal Fabrication Position Overview

  • Provide full support to the sales, project & production team during the full cycle of the project till completion, as and when required.
  • Ensures all new product development projects are held in to capture all costs for important R&D claims every year
  • Adds accurate product codes, descriptions with accurate costs to ensure the company is buying at the right prices so we can confidently add a true margin when quoting/negotiating
  • Provides detailed 3D drawings Inc full rendering during the design process. This includes detailed BOMs and costings from suppliers
  • Responsible for driving initial sample builds Inc testing with Production/Technical team inc handling sub contract suppliers. This also includes full 3D prints when appropriate
  • Liaise with suppliers and negotiates better pricing amongst competitive tendering during the design process to increase our margins
  • Supports marketing dept with technical data inc drawings for new specifications we want to promote
  • Responsible for the management of all drawings received and produced, including prioritizing work to suit deadlines
Product Design Engineer - Lighting / Metal Fabrication Position Requirements
  • Masters degree in Product Design (Class 1)
  • Bachelor of Design, Master of Design (BDes, MDes, Hons)
  • Knowledge & experience in 3D design/mfr environment
  • 3D Printing
  • Inventor/Solid Works
  • CAD
  • Adobe
  • Keyshot
  • Microsoft Office Teams, Outlook, Excel is essential - intermediate level required
  • Experience working with 3D, min 2-3 years
  • Metal Fabrication Experience

  • Salary-27k-35k
