Job Description

Search Consultancy are actively seeking a qualified Financial Reporting Manager for a leading Financial Services business based in the heart of Leeds. The business are going through rapid change and expansion and as such, are seeking a Financial Reporting Manager to sit in the Reporting Team under the Team Lead to cover Reporting responsibilities as a Financial Accountant.The role holder is responsible for production of the Societys annual and interim financial statements and monthly management accounts, together with responsibility for the Societys corporation tax and VAT. Qualifications, Skills & Experience* Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)* Experience of producing or auditing financial statements or management accounts* Highly numerate with good analytical and Microsoft Excel skills* Able to produce high quality, accurate reporting to tight deadlines * Strong written and verbal communicator with stakeholders at all levels of seniority* Able to build work relationships internally and externally and work constructively with others to reach solutions on complex issues* Willing to embrace and implement change* An advocate of the Finance Department vision who is willing to participate in relevant activitiesDesirable* Experience of accounting or auditing within financial services* Experience of corporation tax and VAT calculations* Leadership experienceInternal & External RelationshipsInternal* Chief Financial Officer and senior Finance managers* Finance Team* Treasury* IT* Risk* Internal AuditExternal* External Auditors* Tax outsource providers* Network of accounting specialists within peer companies* Maintain the highest standard of integrity in all business relationships Key Accountabilities* Ownership of financial statements for inclusion in Annual Report & Accounts and Interim Financial Report* Ownership of monthly internal financial statements to support Board and senior management reporting, including review and challenge of accounting postings, investigation of variances to forecasts and provision of insight to inform commentary* Work with outsource providers to ensure accurate and timely corporation tax and VAT payments and submission of tax returns* Main point of contact for external auditors, providing data and information as requested and resolve issues as they arise, escalating matters as appropriate* Support the Financial Reporting Lead in provision of reports and training to Audit Committee and other committees and working groups* Share relevant accounting information with non-Finance colleagues in a clear and understandable way, including delivering training where required * Provide cover for other members of the Financial Reporting team in their absence* Provide support to Society-wide project activity so that accounting impacts and requirements are understood* Manage and develop Trainee Financial Reporting Accountant in line with Society practices (1:1s / appraisals / performance development plans / succession planning) * Maintenance of proper documentation for all relevant processes to ensure risks to the Society is minimised.* Drive continuous review of current procedures to identify process improvements and efficiencies and work collaboratively to implement these.* Adhere to all relevant regulatory rules and guidance applicable to the role.* Maintain required standards of the Conduct Rules at all times in accordance with prevailing regulatory requirements.* Maintain full awareness of and conformance to the Risk Management Framework including but not limited to the Information Security and Data Governance supporting frameworks.* Create an open and inclusive culture, with highly engaged colleagues, delivering required performance management, development and communication actions.This role is a 12 month FTC and will interview next week.
