Job Description

Communications Officer4 week temp assignment Full time office hours, hybridLeeds£14.14 per hour Are you an experienced communications professional, passionate about using your skills to improve care Would you like to engage with healthcare professionals, researchers, patients and the public to share their experience and promote research Would youlike to lead programmes of work across the country and with partner organisations, working across communication disciplinesThe role reports into one of the Communications Managers, and the post holder will lead their own communication projects and support the Communications Manager or other team members on key projects.As a Communications Officer, your duties will include:

  • Responsibility for specific communications projects using and supporting a wide range of channels including the website, social media channels and newsletters
  • Day to day, this will include:
  • Producing and editing engaging web content (copy, videos and images)
  • Internal communications: responsible for producing the NIHR Clinical Research Networks weekly internal newsletters and publishing staff blogs
  • Strategically planning, sourcing and creating dynamic social media content
  • Researching and writing materials (news articles, press releases, printed material, mass email marketing)
  • Interviewing staff and patients to write case studies
  • Designing and producing brochures and booklets
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of communications activity
  • To deliver in this role, you will need to work independently, manage and direct your own workload, to ensure you meet changing demands.
  • Strong internal and external stakeholder management skills. The ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders at various levels of seniority, demonstrating a high level of personal confidence and flexibility.
  • Manage external suppliers such as design agencies, printers and couriers.
  • Effectively and appropriately communicate with members of the public via face to face, written and telephone contact.
You will have:
  • Demonstrable experience of creating strong digital content using creative software to engage stakeholders across a variety of channels
  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to use different writing styles for various channels and audiences
  • Web editing experience with a knowledge of accessibility requirements and SEO
  • Experience of running effective social media accounts
  • Graphic design experience using Adobe InDesign or similar
  • Producing videos and podcasts using audio-visual equipment
  • Effective organisational skills demonstrated by a proven ability to successfully manage and complete multiple projects while prioritising your work to manage time effectively and deliver results on time
