We strive to be pro-active and flexible in management of claims whilst maintainingour integrity. The claims team works with the underwriting teams in order to facilitate close communication and exchange of ideas, and is an integral part of the product and customer service delivered to our clients.We have a great new opportunity to join our claims team in our Leeds office. The Claims Handler role will work in our Prompt Resolution Team providing an excellent claims service on any claims which can be handled with a light touch and where fast settlements are in the best interests of Markel and the Insured. The aimis to cut down on duplication, increase efficiency and response times where possible. If your from an insurance claims or a legal/paralegal background then we would love to hear from you!What youll be doing:Responsible and accountable for claims covering varied classes of business but with a focus on Professional Indemnity, Employers Liability, Public Liability and Property claimsThe ability to prioritise work, have good time management skills and be able to work to deadlines to see claims through to final settlement in a proactive mannerAn understanding of policy wordings and their application for Professional Indemnity, Employers Liability, Public Liability and Property claims across all classes of business in addition to a working knowledge of all UK Retail wordingsEnsure good and regular lines of communication exist with key brokers and ensure that relationships are maintainedOur must haves:Have either a claims background or legal background - insurance claims experience or any Legal background / qualificationsAn interest in developing your longer term career within insurance / claimsGood Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, Access and Outlook and must become fully competent with our in-house systems.Have excellent written and oral communication skillsExcellent organisation skillsWho we are:Markel Corporation (NYSE - MKL) a Fortune 500 company with over 60 offices in 20+ countries, is a holding company for insurance, reinsurance, specialist advisory and investment operations around the world.Were all about people | We win together | We strive for better| We enjoy the everyday We think furtherour approach is disciplined, and our focus is on continuously improving the quality of the customer experience.Avencia Consulting are an RPO who provide a recruitment service to our client Markel International.Whats in it for you:
