Job Description

Job IntroductionOur Claims Handling team are looking for an eagle-eyed colleague to embrace an exciting opportunity to join them as a Claims Assistant. The role is to assist Claims Managers in investigating and managing clinical negligence claims on behalf of medical and dental professionals.Youll be joining a team of other Claims Assistants within Claims Handling where you will support Claims Managers on a variety of tasks.This is a great opportunity for someone with a keen interest in clinical negligence or personal injury law who wishes to put their existing skills and experience into practice, while developing their knowledge in this area.Role Responsibility

  • Drafting a wide variety of documents including letters to members, claimant’s solicitor, instructions to experts and barristers.
  • Taking telephone calls from members, claimants’ solicitors and other third parties
  • Undertaking a wide range of tasks including viewing medical/dental records, preparing chronologies, case summaries and quantum reviews.
  • Ensuring key data is accurately inputted into our case management system, such as limitation and procedural dates etc
  • Triaging incoming post to proactively identify cases that need immediate attention or a prioritised response (e.g. court proceedings .) and to escalate these to the appropriate team member for action
  • Drafting court documents e.g. Acknowledgment of Service, consent orders etc
The Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate will hold a legal qualification or have relevant work experience, for example, as a personal injury or clinical negligence paralegal. You will also:
  • Demonstrate high levels of accuracy and attention to detail, being skilled at producing work to a high standard at a fast pace
  • Work well under pressure and confidently manage competing deadlines
  • Take ownership and responsibly for managing your own workload
  • Be an excellent communicator with the ability to demonstrate empathy towards others
  • Work well within a team
