The salary for this role is Teachers Main Pay Range / Upper Pay Range (Fringe): £26,948 - £38,174 per annum, pro-rata + SEN Allowance (level dependent on the mandatory qualification). This is a secondment / fixed term contract for 12 months. We are excited to be hiring a new Advisory Teacher of the Deaf to join our fantastic team. This position is for 3 days per week, across 39 weeks per year (term-time). You will be based in Leatherhead but the majority of your time will be spent delivering a service to post-16 deaf students, in their further and higher educationsettings across Surrey.If youre someone who enjoys working as part of a strong team and shares our passion to improve the outcomes and education access for post-16 students with sensory impairment - we have a great opportunity for you!About UsPhysical and Sensory Support (PSS) work with young people aged 0-25 with physical and/or sensory impairment. Our service facilitates inclusion and participation in all learning experiences so that each learner becomes a thriving, emotionally resilient andactive member of the community.The FHE 16+ Team within PSS provides a traded service enabling students aged 16 and over, who are either deaf, visually impaired or with multi-sensory impairment to access further and/or higher education. PSS FHE 16+ is a dynamic and busy team comprisedof different specialist and qualified professionals including teachers of sensory impairment (deaf/VI/MSI), BSL interpreters, notetakers, communication support workers and multi-sensory impairment (MSI) intervenors. The team works with students in Surrey collegesand universities, supporting on a variety of courses ranging from animal care and horticulture to masters degrees in philosophy and social work- and everything in between!About the roleIn this role you will monitor and review policies, practice guidelines and quality standards relating to post-16 deaf students, and ensure that relevant best practice and information is disseminated as required. You will manage a complex array of issuesand needs and operate in a collegiate and respectful manner at all levels. You will be advising college tutors and disability managers on suitable provision for deaf students. You will manage the in-class support arrangements for deaf students (provision ofPSS student support workers) and deliver 1:1 tutorials with some of the deaf students on your caseload, on their college premises.
