Job Description

Our client is a national governing body within their sport, and they are embarking on a fantastic organisational mission to really drive the involvement, diversity, inclusion, and engagement within their sport. The organisation is dedicated to promoting their sport far and wide, with the view to truly empower all their players, employees, and volunteers. Due to continued investment in their core values and commitment to driving their strategy forward, they need to recruit an enthusiastic, people orientated and self-motivated candidate into the role of People Officer. The ideal candidate will be experienced in a HR or people focused role with some prior exposure to working with volunteers.   • Manage the day-to-day HR requirements of the organisation including staff engagement, training and development, reward and recognition and internal communications.
  • Develop, drive, and champion the desired culture for the organisation moving forward.
  • Act as the first point of contact for customer enquiries by telephone, email or post.
  • Organising staff meetings.
  • Build and develop a work experience and intern plan.
  • Develop and deliver a volunteer strategy to maximize the number of people involved within the sport.
  • Manage international athletes ambassadorial appearances.
  • Support in the organisation and delivery of an Annual Awards event.
  • Lead in organising other associated volunteer recognition activities and events.
  • Support the delivery of the organisations governance work including the Governance Working Party.
  • Support the development and delivery of a Diversity & Inclusion strategy.
  • Work to develop best practice policies across the business.
  • Work with external bodies to oversee the organisations safeguarding enquiries.
  • Administer DBS applications.
  • Key Skills & Experience:
  • Being passionate about people and their wellbeing and development is essential.
  • Being an excellent team-player with a positive energy and can-do attitude is essential.
  • Previous experience working in a people-orientated role whether it is within human resources or working with groups of volunteers is essential.
  • Experience and/or a passion for the importance of organisational culture - driven to create an environment where people feel involved, recognised and can achieve their potential.
  • An understanding of working with, guiding and motivating a volunteer network.
  • Ability to plan and deliver quality business events achieving agreed outcomes within a set budget.
  • Prior experience delivering governance related work is highly desirable.
