Job Description

They specialise in their field and believe that hiring the right people is key to their business, and are looking for a like-minded individual to join their team as a Lead Driver & Logistics Technician.Lead Driver & Logistics Technician£30-38k per annum basic salary DOE | 48 hour week (over a referencing period) | Driving Licence & Valid Passport Essential | National and International Travel | Fault-Finding, Technically Minded | Family-run | Growing Business | Hardworking | Adaptable | ExperiencedThe post holder will take the lead for work allocation and prioritization within the yard environment, and on unit movements. The individual will liaise closely with internal and external contacts to ensure that mobile units and modular buildings are fit for purpose according to the required timeframes, and that any issues are resolved in a timely manner. This is a multi-faceted position, involving the leading of activities at the yard, driving and physical/manual unit installation, maintenance and removal, and customer contact, as required.Duties (include but are not limited to):

  • Coordinate and lead in all yard-based maintenance activities in relation to the mobile medical units, taking into consideration schedules and planned unit movements and changes
  • Undertake unit maintenance and repairs as and when required
  • Take the lead along with the Logistics Co Ordinator and Technical, Projects and Logistics Manager, for unit delivery and/or removal activities, to include escorting the abnormal load, mobile medical unit. Also, all work included in the installation and collection process
  • To coordinate and work with external logistics companies to ensure a smooth, safe and compliant delivery of the mobile medical units
  • Coordinate and execute general maintenance activities both at depot and on Customer hospital premises
  • Liaise as required with technical maintenance contractors
  • Liaise with colleagues conducting site surveys to ensure seamless transition of unit for preparation stage to delivery
  • Liaising with internal contacts and external suppliers to ensure part availability and stock levels of consumables, as required
  • Support and/or undertake site survey at the Customer hospital to establish feasibility of and enable unit delivery and extraction, developing logistics delivery plan
  • Liaise with Customer hospital on logistical elements, including timings, facilities and access, taking ownership for the delivery process
  • Advising customers of the technical requirements of the unit(s) as required
  • Person Specification:
  • Experience in a similar environment (i.e. exhibitions, events etc)
  • Proven background in maintenance and development of infrastructure and facilities
  • Demonstrable experience of leading & motivating teams is preferred
  • Has basic general maintenance skills, air con or electrical experience an advantage.
  • IT literate, with ability to effectively work using MS Office and similar packages
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to adapt approach to suit audience
  • Must be able to operate in a dynamic, solution-based environment
  • Must be able to work effectively as part of a team but equally take accountability and ownership as required
  • Proven good level of numeracy and literacy skills
  • Knowledge of transport operations and trailer control, training will be provided.
  • CAD knowledge would be beneficial but not essential
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to the transport/logistics industry
  • Must hold a Full driving licence
  • Hold a valid passport (or willing to obtain)
