Job Description

Role OverviewWere searching for an experienced L&D professional and learning advocate to help strengthen, design and deliver our learning and development programmes as we grow the learning culture across our internal teams. Confident business partner and facilitator,with the ability to scope out training opportunities and provide both quick and longer-term substantial learning solutions. A motivated, flexible individual, with resilience for change and overcoming challenges, will thrive in this role.What youll be doing

  • Help to build, develop and deliver our formal development programmes as part of our Dobbies Academy
  • Represent the team with our external systems & training providers to resolve issues and enhance the learning experience, including with our LMS and apprenticeship providers
  • Help to create and maintain role specific induction and progression journeys for all our team
  • Partner with operators across the business to review our L&D gaps and offering, identifying clear training needs and creating appropriate solutions alongside the L&D Manager
  • Be a positive advocate of our LMS to engage our team in their development and ensure all mandatory training is compliant
  • Work with internal and external SMEs to build progressive eLearning content to improve skills and capability across our estate
  • Lead or support on various projects simultaneously as we meet the needs of the business to enhance developmental avenues
  • Help to drive our mandatory compliance training, ensuring our teams are up to date
  • Design and deliver strong L&D offerings, both digitally and face to face, across our Central Support Office and our store teams
  • Support with internal comms of our programmes and conducts regular activity on our internal and external platforms to publicise the benefits of our development programmes
  • Support the L&D coordinators and L&D Manager to deliver on our strategy
  • Supporting the wider People team in delivering our People plan and helping build Dobbies as not your average garden centre
What youll bring
  • Experience within learning and development, ideally at either Advisor, Trainer or Partner level
  • Experience in creating engaging and results focussed learning content, using platforms such as Articulate 360
  • Clear understanding and interest of learning theory and understanding of how people tick
  • Exposure to working with apprenticeships, with sound understanding
  • Ideally CIPD qualified or equivalent L&D Certification
  • Creative and on the pulse with current L&D trends
  • Commercial thinker, understanding the importance of using people data to make the right decisions
  • A demonstrable passion for seeing people grow in their skills and confidence
  • Have a strong comradery attitude; willing to provide hands-on support to share the workload across the team, where needed
  • Happy to present in front of others and makes a good first impression
  • Strong planning, resilience, and problem-solving skills
  • Must maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Confident communicator, both verbally and in writing
  • Methodical in managing their time and conflicting priorities
  • Experience in project management or leading sub-sections of various projects
  • Ability to provide on the spot coaching as opportunities arise
  • Excellent PowerPoint and Word skills
  • Excel - advanced user would be advantageous, intermediate user as a minimum
  • Experience with Resourcelink and Kallidus systems is desirable, but not essential
  • Discovery Insights practitioner or experience with Discovery Insights as a learner would be desirable, but not essential
