Our customer focus is based on quality, service and consistency and our service-led ethos is one of the key drivers in the growth of our market share over the past 10 years.We are currently recruiting for a Quarry Operative to join our Knutton Quarry in Newcastle-Under-Lyme.The employee will be a member of a multi-functional production/TPM team aiming to achieve key targets within the departmental environment, thereby helping to deliver Cost, Quality and Efficiency benefits to the Quarry and Factories supplied with materials from the quarry. Hours of work will be based around a 5 day working week, all Saturday mornings from 06:30 till 13:00 hrs and rotating 4-day shift pattern Monday through to Friday 06.30 to 17:00 including 0.5 hour unpaid meal break.Key responsibilities will lie in the following functional areas:

The operation of a 360º Excavator blending clays from stockpile faces and moving materials as directed by the site management.

The operation of a wheeled front end loader, loading materials into Lorries for delivery into the factories. Ensuring that high quality raw material of the appropriate consistency is sent to the factory.

The operation of a wheeled tractor with the following attachments:

Water bowser

Brush

Loading forks

Front end loading bucket

Salt / Grit Spreader

Operation of weighbridge.

Operation of water treatment plant.

Ensuring all the plant and equipment in use within the quarry is checked and maintained (Greasing oiling and cleaning).

Creating and maintaining the highest standards of housekeeping and environmental management utilising the above equipment.

Ensure areas are inspected / maintained in accordance with local Health & Safety Standards and work within Standard Safe Operating Procedures

To deliver through the process of TPM plant improvement initiatives and continuous improvement

Assist in the development of SSOP’s and Risk Assessments

Complete appropriate quality assessmentsThe applicant needs to be a competent mobile plant operator; specifically, competent to operate a wheeled front end loader and a tracked excavator above 10 tonnes. (Proof of competency could be an MPQC Competent Operator Card)This is meant as a broad statement of the purpose, scope, duties and responsibilities of the above position.
