Job Description

Location: Bristol, UKSalary: CompetitiveClosing Date: 12th December 2020You are applying to join an exciting new setup manufacturer of solid dosage form products. The company is based in Bristol, but we already have a big network of distributors and customers in MENA and our aim is to expand exponentially.The successful applicant, in collaboration with the production team, will be responsible for formulations development; and monitoring and supervising the manufacturing and packaging operation of solid dosage form products.Responsibilities

  • Ensure the smooth running of the R&D laboratory and the laboratory is clean and compliant with GMP required standards.
  • Ensure that all activities in the R&D lab are carried out in line with Health and Safety policy and COSHH in terms of storing, handling of chemicals and waste disposal.
  • Carry out pre-formulation and small-scale laboratory formulation studies following QBD concepts for developments of various solid dosage form formulae.
  • Assess the suitability of formulations for large scale manufacturing using good PPIC.
  • Writing of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), planned maintenance procedures and worksheets and support documentation for protocols following the templates of the factory.
  • Formulation/reformulation of various solid dosage forms:
  • Tablets using dry granulation and direct compression
  • capsules and sachets using various powder mixing techniques to improve flowability which involve using different mixers/blenders.
  • Supervise the technical team involved in the manufacturing and packaging processes in clean room environment and ensure that the operation is in compliance with the GMP requirements and internal SOP and written protocol.
  • Managing the resources including the production team, machine and ingredients to improve the quality of products and reduce the costs of production.
  • Train the production team on last techniques in manufacturing and how to maximise the output of the machinery.
  • Dealing with customers complaints by investigating the reasons behind the dissatisfaction and implying preventive or modifying actions.
  • Coordinating with other teams to improve the operations in the manufacturing facility.
  • Identify and solve creatively any problem or troubleshooting that affecting the production process.
  • Characterise the formulations during the development phase and to characterise the final products through running stability studies and other characterisation techniques which involve using some analytical instruments.
  • Be the person of contact to check and order new raw materials.
    • Requirements
  • A degree in pharmaceutical sciences, or similar subject, is highly preferred.
  • A strong scientific background and industrial experience in pre-formulation, formulation, formulation up-scaling, manufacturing and characterisation of different solid dosage formulations using various powder mixing and granulation technology.
  • A good knowledge and understanding of analytical techniques in solid dosage form.
  • Have good understanding of managing clean room environments.
  • Experience in writing GMP technical documentation such as SOP, risk assessments, URS.
  • Have good industrial experience in operation and managing various equipment used in solid dosage forms such as cone mill, mixers, compression machines, sachet filling machine, capsules filling machine.
  • Have excellent research skills.
