Job Description

We are recruiting a Buyer/Purchasing Assistant to work for a Manufacturing company based in Kingswinford.The Buyer/Purchasing Assistant will be responsible for buying and procurement of core and non-core stock together with supporting all known functions within the Purchasing Department.The main duties will be:

  • Supplier negotiation and supplier relationship management to meet price, quality, delivery, and service requirements.
  • Receive requisitions for raw materials and non-stock items, formulates purchase order which is sent to supplier
  • Raising and sending purchase orders via the re-order report or other means
  • Progress chasing of external suppliers and expediting overdue and due purchase order lines
  • Reconciles delivery notes, invoices and credit notes with purchase order, including entering of all information on purchase system (Sage).
  • Support the Sales Team in preparing special enquires for the UK and Overseas Suppliers.
The successful candidate will have the following skills:
  • 2-3 Years experience of buying in a manufacturing environment- ideally a Steel Automotiveor metal background would be beneficial.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Experience in a buying position/material handling/supply chain
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Ability to manage a busy workload
  • Familiar with ERP or similar software systems
