Job Description

My client is seeking an experienced Internal Communications Consultant to support the Universitys key strategic objectives by providing high level communications advice and producing compelling written and visual content targeting a range of audiences,with a particular emphasis on staff and students.   • As the Internal Communications Consultant you will plan and produce a range of compelling written and visual content, including intranet articles, website news stories, videos, photography and social media posts to raise awareness of key University activityand achievements, increasing audience engagement.
  • Oversee the planning, implementation and evaluation of communications projects and integrated campaigns to highlight the Universitys strategic priorities to staff and students.
  • Ensure the Universitys key communications channels, including staff and student intranets, digital screens, the app, social media platforms and poster sites are regularly used as appropriate in the delivery of corporate campaigns and the disseminationof key messages.
  • Develop and maintain productive working relationships with University colleagues, staff networks and partner bodies, using an evidence-based approach to negotiate and achieve positive outcomes.
  • Help promote good practice across all communications activity, ensuring content consistently follows the Universitys brand, style and editorial
  • Manage work effectively, balancing deadlines and competing priorities as agreed with Internal Communications Manager.
  • Mentor and supervise the work of more junior members of the team and student interns as required by the Internal Communications Manager.
  • Ensure consistent use of the teams content management systems and approval processes.
ProfileExcellent verbal, written, editing and proofreading skills.Ability to write compelling content for different audiences.Ability to manage a demanding workload and competing priorities.Ability to communicate tactfully and diplomatically with staff at different levels and form successful and productive working relationships.Ability to work with sensitive and confidential information.Good understanding of reporting mechanisms and how this data underpins effective communications outputs.Strong interest in promoting the aims of higher education through effective communications.Demonstrable experience of undertaking a range of internal communications activities in a large, multi-faceted organisation.Demonstrable experience of developing, implementing and evaluating communication plans.Experience of communicating complex issues clearly and succinctly to a wide range of audiences.Experience of producing videography and other written and visual content for key organisational social media platforms. Experience of providing communications advice at senior levels within an organisation and negotiating successful outcomes.Job OfferTemporary role, £200 - £240 per day
