Job Description

Are you a skilled and enthusiastic Nursing or AHP Professional seeking a new challenge where you can make a positive difference as a Safeguarding Lead & Lead Social WorkerAn exciting opportunity has become available for a Safeguarding Lead / Senior Social Worker to work on at our Cygnet Kewstoke Hospital,working 37.5 hours per week.Cygnet Hospital Kewstoke provides emergency admissions services for men and women, and a pathway for women from low secure to rehabilitation including a specialist servicefor personality disorder.The hospital has more than 16 acres of landscaped grounds and overlooks the Bristol Channel. This beachside location, just outside Weston-super-Mare, helps us provide a quiet, peaceful and therapeutic environment which can offer service users a broad rangeof therapies including CBT, Schema Therapy, EMDR & DBT.The role includes .

  • Managing a small team of social workers
  • Work in partnership withservice users,their families and other stakeholders to assist with the recovery process
  • Forge links and maintain contact with other statutory agencies
  • Lead on the social care needs ofservice users
  • Ensure thatservice usersand their families/carers are aware of their legal rights
  • Provide written reports to the multidisciplinary team and other professionals
  • Be a source of specialist advice and expertise on all safeguarding adult matters to all staff at the point of need across the Hospital.
  • Promote good practice and effective communication within the Hospital and all agencies on all matters relating to safeguarding adults who have care and support needs.
  • Lead and co-ordinate the management of safeguarding referrals within the Hospital using our recognised policies and procedures.
  • Co-ordinate and support the Hospitals internal case reviews including Individual Management Reviews where appropriate.
  • Adhere to our systems, policies and procedures to safeguard adults with care and support needs.
  • Ensure there are audits to monitor the application of agreed safeguarding adults standards.
  • Ensure robust data collection systems are in place.
  • Provide supervision where relevant.
  • Provide external and internal assurance reporting
Some responsibilities include:
  • Safeguarding investigation and support to the ward in safeguarding matters
  • Key relationship holder with safeguarding teams
  • Support staff with report writing
  • Key link with advocacy
  • Line management responsibilities for Social Worker Team
You are
  • Experienced in working within a mental health setting, or passionate about working in this field
  • Knowledgeable of safeguarding, health & safety, data protection, confidentiality issues & equality & diversity
  • Skilled in report writing with excellent literacy skills and attention to detail
  • Registered Nurse / AHP (adult).
  • Degree in health or social care related subject or equivalent experience.
  • 3 Years post-registration experience in caring for adults.
  • Evidence of managing adults at risk cases.
  • Extensive experience in adults at risk work.
  • Highly knowledgeable of the Care Act, Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act, as well as GDPR and patient confidentiality
  • Able to confidently apply the principles of safeguarding adults in practise
  • Able to communicate highly complex sensitive information to large groups of staff, patients or the public, based on legislation and DH guidance.
  • Ability to communicate with all agencies involved in the management of adults at risk, dealing with highly complex and highly sensitive data.
  • Excellent organisational skills. Able to prioritise and respond to immediate demands on a daily basis. -Good management of own time and workload.
  • Able to manage highly complex and contentious issues
  • Work to a high level of autonomy and able to use initiative and to make complex decisions.
  • Able to analyse and interpret highly complex data and make appropriate recommendations as a result. IT literate.
  • An excellent communicator with exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
