Trust Grade Registrar – CardiologyEmployer: Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation TrustDepartment: CardiologyLocation: Kettering General HospitalSalary: Current Trust Grade Registrar ScaleDue to 2 of our registrars been successful in obtaining training posts applications are invited for the position of Trust Grade Registrar to commence as soon as possible. It is essential that applicants have a minimum of 2 years’ experience within General Medicine and have obtained full MRCP (including PACES). Previous cardiology experience at registrar level is essential.The appointee will be assigned a supervisor from the beginning and will receive training in cardiac imaging, bradycardia pacing and coronary angiography (depending on experience and competence) over a two year period. They will receive full exposure to both elective and non-elective cardiology. The appointee will also be encouraged to undertake research and audit, as well as attendance at regional and national educational meetings. He/she will also actively participate in our busy educational programme of teaching under and postgraduatesAlthough this position is NOT recognised for Training by the Postgraduate Deanery, successful applicants will be given equivalent training opportunities to Specialty Trainees.The Department of Cardiology at Kettering General Hospital is committed to providing high quality, patient centred care and it is expected the successful candidate will be an exceptional and highly motivated individual, working with a similar ethos. The post-holder will participate in the Cardiology rota at the Trust.Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust approx 534 beds and provides acute and elective services to approximate population is in excess of 330,000 for elective services, 400,000 for non-elective services and 900,000 for Primary PCI.Since becoming a Foundation Trust in 2008, the hospital has embarked on a programme of progressive development and innovation, including: a £4.7m Cardiac Centre and a 24/7 Regional Emergency service for people having heart attacks, a £30m extension to the main hospital block, including a new 12 bed Coronary Care Unit, 16 bed cardiac ward and advanced 16 bed Intensive Care Unit. Reconfiguration of urgent care, including relocation of Cardiology to a purpose built unit, has been integral to enabling these improvements.The post-holder will be joining a dynamic and cohesive team of eleven Cardiologists, and will enjoy the use of state-of-the-art facilities at Kettering General Hospital. The Kettering General Hospital Department of Cardiology provides comprehensive cardiac services including basic and complex imaging (including trans-oesophageal echocardiography, stress echocardiography, coronary CT and specialised commissioned cardiac MRI service), acute and elective coronary intervention, and device therapy (PPM, ICD, CRT-P, CRT-D).Kettering is centrally located – London is less than 1 hour by rail and Kettering to Paris via Eurostar is 3 hours. By road, Kettering is within easy reach of 5 international airports and 75% of the country can be reached within 2 hoursThe area offers everything from traditional market towns to charming villages and picturesque countryside.
