Job Description

Overview:We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Planning Officer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing and navigating complex planning applications, particularly those involving large-scale developmentsof over 50 units.Responsibilities:

  • Planning Application Management: Lead and oversee the entire process of planning applications, specifically focusing on large-scale projects exceeding 50 units from inception to approval.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to local planning policies, regulations, and legislative frameworks throughout the planning process.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with diverse stakeholders including local authorities, government agencies, consultants, and community groups to facilitate effective communication and resolve potential conflicts.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide expert advice on planning matters, conducting feasibility studies, evaluating proposals, and offering strategic recommendations for project development.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor junior staff members, providing guidance and support in complex planning scenarios.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare comprehensive reports, assessments, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders, presenting findings and recommendations clearly and effectively.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Urban Planning, Architecture, Geography, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (minimum [X years]) in a senior planning role, specifically managing large-scale planning applications of 50+ units.
  • In-depth knowledge of planning legislation, policies, and procedures, with a strong understanding of the local and national planning framework.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to navigate complex planning issues effectively.
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities, capable of building relationships and facilitating consensus among diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in relevant planning software and tools.
