This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the success of their dynamic and growing organisation.Job Overview:As a Transport Planner, you will play a pivotal role in orchestrating the smooth movement of goods through both general haulage and freight forwarding operations. You will be responsible for optimising transportation routes, managing carrier relationships,and ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of shipments. This role requires a strong understanding of both domestic and international logistics.Key Responsibilities:Route Planning and Optimisation:

  • Develop and optimise transportation plans for both general haulage and freight forwarding services.
  • Utilise advanced route planning techniques to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
Carrier Management:
  • Collaborate with carriers for both domestic and international shipments.
  • Negotiate rates, establish service level agreements, and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Monitor carrier performance and implement improvements as necessary.
Coordination and Communication:
  • Work closely with internal teams, including warehouse operations, freight forwarders, and customer service, to ensure seamless coordination of transportation activities.
  • Communicate effectively with drivers, customs officials, and external partners to address issues and provide real-time updates.
Freight Forwarding Operations:
  • Coordinate international shipments, including customs clearance, documentation, and compliance with international regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant customs and trade regulations.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
  • Analyse transportation data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Generate regular reports on key performance indicators to measure and enhance overall transportation efficiency.
Compliance and Regulation:
  • Stay informed about transportation, customs, and trade regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with local, regional, and international transportation laws and regulations.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Proven experience in transport planning within general haulage and freight forwarding.
  • Strong knowledge of domestic and international logistics, customs procedures, and trade regulations.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in transportation management software and relevant tools.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Transport Planner Key remunerations:
  • Salary £30,000-£35,000
  • Mon-Thurs
  • Mon 11:00-19:30
  • Tue-Thurs 6:00- 18:00
