Job Description

Knauf UK are one of the UKs leading manufacturers of lightweight building products and systems - we are are currently recruiting for a Risk & Improvement Partner to join the business at our Sittingbourne plant.The purpose of this role is to support our colleagues in their management of risks in our business. You’ll be a leading figure in our sustainable development. The particular focus is to support the understanding and improvement of our business processes, to minimise the chance of harm to people and our environment.As well as a proven track record in managing health and safety risks, you’ll have experience in using lean management techniques to support colleagues in continuous improvement (CI). You’ll be an expert communicator at all levels, with the coaching and influencing skills to support our teams in achieving high quality and sustainability business performance.Main Responsibilities & Accountabilities:Your key responsibilities are

  • Apply your specialist knowledge of health, safety, environment & quality to coach and support colleagues in managing operational and change risks - which include opportunities as well as threats
  • Take a lead to ensure the plan-do-check-act continuous improvement cycle is understood, communicated and used for our activities
  • Be responsible for the maintenance and improvement of our management systems for, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 50001, for your factory site.
  • Maintain the site Environmental Permit ensuring controls are implemented in our manufacturing processes
  • To take a wide range of often complex data and translate this into meaningful information that can be used to identify improvement opportunities
  • Work with, and facilitate operational colleagues to identify improvement opportunities - and have the tenacity to follow these through with the relevant process owner
  • Work closely with the factory management team and safety committees on improvements within a CI framework
  • Using your personal effectiveness to develop a relationship of trust and support with all colleagues
  • Act as custodian of risk management processes and ensure these are implemented effectively at the site, including audit and review of our business processes
  • Line management of a Compliance Coordinator who will assist you with audit, control and compliance risk management
  • Be able to quickly adapt to developing and using new systems e.g. incident reporting, integrated management systems etc.
  • Travel occasionally to our Immingham site, offsite meetings around UK and to our depot in Dublin
  • The post is based at our Sittingbourne factory, and you’ll be a member of the factory management team.
  • You are required to follow company Health and Safety procedures to ensure the safety of yourself and others
  • Anything commensurate to complete your role
  • Requirements:Qualifications, skills, ability and/or experience:
  • Educated to at least NEBOSH NVQ level 4 with a systems, health and safety, environment/sustainability, quality or process focus or significant content
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a HSE role
  • High level of knowledge and implementation of ISO 45001 and associated standards, preferably within an audit and advice capacity
  • Knowledge of process thinking and improvement
  • Excellent standard of communication, influencing and facilitation
  • High level of organization, and able to prioritise workload to meet required and often conflicting deadlines
  • Have a positive, can-do approach to solving problems in a structured manner
  • Ability to tailor your communications (verbal, written and presentation skills) to the audience including management and front line staff
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Experience of dealing with external regulators and other interested parties.
  • Excellent IT skills and aptitude to quickly learn new software
  • Ability to work well as part of a team as well under own initiative
  • Full driving license
