Job Description

The Journey: Our client is an Ipswich based, family run, independent manufacturer of everything glass related! With over four decades of experience in the glass industry they are well known for their reputation of excellent quality & service and come highly recommendedin the industry.The Opportunity: The business is currently investing heavily in automation across the board in preparation for planned, rapid growth expected over the next 12-18months. Hard-working, motivated and energetic individual to join their production team as a Glass Technician.Work will involve general production and assembly of glass sealed units, glass cutting, loading, etc. It does not require previous experience, as training of the roles will be given. However, if you have experience in production and manufacturing process itis highly valued. Production operatives must be able to demonstrate that they can work and communicate effectively with all staff in production up to and including Supervisor levels. They will report directly to the Shift Supervisor and Manager.Key Responsibilities:

  • You will be responsible for operating the assembly and preparation of the components used in the manufacture of double-glazed units
  • You will be responsible for operating equipment in the factory to assemble the products using hands, machinery and various tools
  • The requirement for the Operative involves assembling and checking the products, ensuring all machinery being used runs smoothly and assisting in racking and loading prior to deliveries to customers
The successful candidate will need to have a dedicated, detailed and flexible approach to the working environment, with a can-do and client-first attitude. You will need to demonstrate a positive outlook and be respectful and helpful to colleagues towork well in a team. Due to health and safety requirements around machinery etc, you will need to be fluent in English. Experience in a manufacturing environment/industry is advantageous but not essential. The main attribute our client requires is the willingness to be present and learn.The current shift is Monday to Friday, 7am to 7pm, however from June 2023, the team will work on a 3 week shift pattern;
  • Week 1 & 2 - Monday to Friday - 6am-3.30pm
  • Week 3 - Monday to Friday - 3.30pm-11pm
Benefits: This is a full-time, permanent position.
  • Salary for this role is inline with minimum wage, therefore depending on the applicants age, the salary might vary. Increases are available based on performance and completion of in-house sliding skills training
  • You will be entitled to 20days annual leave.
  • Full health and safety training provided.
Interview Process: Once a copy of your CV has been reviewed and we have established the minimum requirements are met, my client (Ipswich Glass Ltd) will contact you and arrange for you to visit the warehouse for an interview (within 1 week of application). Here you will beintroduced to the team, and shown the products you would be working with. A trial will then be arranged to ensure you fully understand the physical requirements of the role before being hired on a permanent basis.
