Job Description

Competitive salary and excellent benefitsLocation - Ipswich, North Felaw Maltings/HomeworkingWhat will I be doingYou will operate as a Technical/People Lead within our Software Services capability leading a team that provides software development and 3rd line support of high volume/low latency business critical enterprise applications whilst delivering to a single customer.You will work closely with our Architecture and Design community to ensure that applications are developed in line with customer functional/non-functional requirements whilst providing a fantastic customer experience.As part of the wider team you will provide 3rd line support of multiple applications to ensure that any service related issues are managed effectively and adherence to customer SLA’s.Some of your key responsibilities:People

  • Leading a team of Software Engineers and Architect to drive high quality deliveries as well as adoption of industry best practice approaches and methodologies across all software deliveries.
  • People Leadership including regular 1-2-1’s, coaching and mentoring team. Adopts the KCOM strategic People Management framework to drive strategic objectives alongside building personal development/training plans for team members.
  • Be CSI focussed to ensure new ideas and ways of working are managed and delivered
  • Collaborates with Project Management to ensure that all future demand is accurately forecast and assessed so that supply can be managed effectively.
  • Drives a customer centric forward thinking culture within the team.
    • Technical
  • Translating solution design and business requirements (both functional and non-functional) into a high quality solution, ensuring compliance with the organisations strategy, policies and standards whilst aligning to our "Center of Excellence"
  • Ensuring that application development leads to successful delivery and operation
  • Takes responsibility for identifying, qualifying and mitigating risks
  • Providing 3rd line specialist support of the applications (Code, Networking, Server/OS) to support customer operations and test teams
  • Maintaining, applying and sharing a broad industry knowledge and technical awareness to maintain best practice and be a recognised subject matter expert within the organisation
  • Communicating at both project and strategic levels with customers
  • Assisting in preparation of technical programme/project plan estimates
  • Monitoring technical progress, informing project management of major technical issues and making recommendations on their resolution
  • Working effectively to produce quality solutions within business and project constraints
  • Working in collaboration with our team to ensure that we provide a best in class service.
    • Skill and Experience RequiredThe successful candidate will have experience of working within the Telecommunications Industry and experience with Enterprise Level High Volume/Low Latency Applications.Experience of working with code repositories such as Subversion and Maven along with the following are also essential:
  • Java Application Design, Build, Test and Release
  • Experience of Interface Design, Build, Implementation and Test
  • Network and Server Design and Support
  • Ability to Build Test Strategies & Support
  • Network Protocol Design, Build, Test and Implementation
  • Data Modelling
  • Design, Build, Test and Implementation within Oracle environments
  • Expert Level server, operating system and network troubleshooting
  • Java Application Design and Development and ability to interrogate code at a forensic level
  • Networking & Application Security
  • 3rd Line Operational Support of Live Managed Services (24x7)
  • Working knowledge of ITIL methodologies
  • Liaison with Architecture and Solution Design
  • Customer/Customer 3rd Party Liaison
