Job Description

Engineering / Casting Operative Permanent position Ilminster£11.78phDo you have some proven work knowledge of CNC turning or heavy engineering/ foundry backgroundDo you live a commutable distance to ilminsterif so we want to hear from you!This is an exciting opportunity to embark upon a fantastic career with a leading manufacturer, where every employee is truly valued and part of a friendly innovative team.You will have regular progress reviews with the possibility to further your career with- real progression.The role is to support the activities of the Casting department and to ensure that production targets are achieved, and the highest standards of quality are maintained.The role will involve basic CNC turning although most of the role will be under taking casting on white metal and cu/Pb machines, this involves heavy lifting in a hot environment doing very manual tasks.Daily tasks will involve

  • Receiving and checking materials for production
  • To set machine in accordance with standards
  • To complete records and documentation as required
  • To maintain good housekeeping standards
  • To report any concerns to Team Leader
  • To ensure an effective handover to following shift where appropriate
  • To work flexibly as part of the manufacturing team and to support other team members as required
  • In all activities, to comply with quality, health & safety and environmental rules and policies
Area Specifics
  • White metal casting
  • Reclaim lathes (CNC)
  • Turning shells on the CNC
  • Acid etches shop (tinning process)
  • Casting anodes
  • Forklift / Combi lift duties (loading and unloading)
  • Supporting with Kaizen and 5S activities within the Casting and Plating areas
