Saint-Gobain PAM is one of more than 30 exciting Saint-Gobain brands in the UK and the premier supplier of ductile iron and cast iron products to the UKs key utilities,telecoms, highways, civil engineering, construction and housing companies.Is this role right for meFirst and foremost, we always want to recruit talented people that align well with our values and way of working. For this role in particular we are looking for someone with the following;

  • ONC/HNC qualified in an engineering discipline, or recent graduate
  • AutoCAD competent in both 2D and Revit platforms
  • Pipe installation qualification (City and Guilds or similar)
  • Knowledge of UK Water Industry
  • Understanding of pipeline products and principles - Ideally a working knowledge of Ductile Iron pipeline products
  • CAD design and interpretation of design drawings
  • Experience in communicating at all levels - from site contractors to design consultants
  • Delivery of technical design solutions and value creation/engineering
  • Entry level commercial acumen and awareness
  • Specification selling experience and ability to articulate value creation and TOTEX opportunities
  • Site pipeline installation experience - Holder of CSCS card - Desirable but not essential
What will I be doing in the roleThe primary purpose of the role is to provide technical advice and solutions to the internal sales team and to customers via the "technical help line" to help generate sales primarily within run rate and smaller projects (Pipe and fitting products). However,will also have involvement in frameworks and major project technical input.The roll-out of the Revit BIM library also falls under this remit so the ability to drive and operate AutoCAD Revit is a key requirement of the role. This role is effectively a development role into a fully qualified technical engineer, or equally a technicalsales role. Key result areas and accountabilities;Health, Safety & Environment
  • Adhere to any safety and/or environmental policies applicable to the technical function.
  • Actively contribute to the Companys safety culture by participating in safety initiatives
  • Ensure all accidents, incidents and hazards are reported
Business Compliance
  • Ensure full adherence to comply processes and procedures
Technical Support
  • Complete technical drawing take-off work
  • Lead Revit BIM library roll-out to UK water sector
  • Provision of technical support for run rate and smaller projects (in liaison with internal sales), including specification definition, design input, value engineering etc
  • On-going general technical support as required
  • Provision of technical help desk facility for access by customers
  • Support on frameworks and major projects as directed by the Head of Value Creation
  • Provision of specified project production drawings for Flange Pipe Plant
  • Support the internal sales office in their technical understanding of our product offer
Communication & Working Relationships
  • Internal: Internal Sales teams, Commercial/Marketing/external sales functions, Plant management (FPP), other Saint-Gobain PAM UK colleagues and PAM technical contacts across the group
External: contact with framework customers and contractors at project level.
