Job Description

Learning Support AssistantLocation: Ilkeston, DE7Days: 5 days, Monday - Friday, Term Time OnlyHours: 8:30am - 3:30pmDaily Rate: £80 - £100Start Date: September 2023End Date: July 2024A large inclusive Secondary School are looking to appoint a highly motivated and experienced learning support assistant to work with pupils who have a range of special educational needs and disabilities. The school have a range of pupils that require additionalsupport in order for them to achieve academically. The schools SEND & Inclusion Department are well established and provide comprehensive support for students both inside and outside of the classroom. The school is looking for a candidate with SEN experience,educational support experience and someone who has and strong grasp of effective SEN support.Job Role:Overall purpose of the post is to work with teachers to support teaching and learning. This will be achieved by working with individuals or small groups of pupils under the direction of teaching staff and may be responsible for some learning activities withinthe overall teaching plan.Teaching and Learning Responsibilities:

  • Work with individuals or small groups of pupils in the classroom under the direct supervision of teaching staff.
  • Frequently work with individual pupils with special educational needs and/or with pupils for whom English is not their first language.
  • Implement planned learning activities/teaching programmes as agreed with the teacher, adjusting activities to pupils needs as appropriate.
  • Participate in planning and evaluation of learning activities with the teacher, relating to the needs of students you are supporting.
  • Support independent learning and inclusion of all pupils in each group you are supporting.
  • Provide feedback to pupils in relation to attainment and progress under the direction of the teacher.
  • Assist with the development of individual learning plans for students identified with special educational needs and disabilities.
