Job Description

Technical Manager.

  • Would also suit a Metallurgist looking for a step up.
£40,000 - £55,000.North Devon (A39 corridor). Relocation assistance available. With the backing of a small group of companies, this progressive engineering leader boasts cutting-edge expertise and technology, whilst still maintaining a family feel. With a bursting orderbook and an appetite to expand their offering to additional and emergingmarkets, an opportunity has now arisen for an experienced Technical Manager to join them.Reporting directly to the Managing Director, your new role will involve the management of technical support to all areas of the business, including investment casting, metal finishing and machining. Does this sound like the type of engaging role that will offer an exciting next step to your careerIn an ideal world, my client would like to find a current Technical Manager or Metallurgist with a castings background (whether thats aluminium, iron or steel) however, they are also happy to consider people from alternative backgrounds, such as metal finishingor forging, who possess transferrable skills and are keen to move into the castings industry.Regardless of where you come from, you will be pragmatic, by nature, committed to maintaining crucial health and safety standards and comfortable working in a fast-moving industrial environment.The core responsibilities for this role are as follows:
  • Providing technical support to all areas of the business, such as capital investment / introduction and the management of all company projects that require facilities involvement.
  • Managing and developing the manufacturing process, with the support of the Process Engineer.
  • Through the introduction of planned preventative maintenance programmes, identifying and replacing any skills gaps for the future and carrying out succession planning and preparation for process development and automation.
  • Maintaining the current health and safety management system, with a view to be working towards the accreditations ISO 14001 and ISO 35000.
  • Developing the internal health and safety structure, to include more input from the shopfloor, and managing exterior health and safety support.
In return, my client is offering a negotiable salary, in the region of £40,000 - £55,000 and may be prepared to stretch this slightly for an exceptional candidate who ticks all the boxes. The role also offers an excellent benefits package, along with theoption to work from home on a Friday.The company is located in an idyllic part of the UK and easily accessible from Ilfracombe, Woolacombe, Combe Martin, Barnstaple.
