Job Description

Jaxdene Partners is recruiting for a VMU manager in Huntingdon for our established client in the Logistics sector. A fantasitc oppurtunity to join a forward thinking buisness always looking to push forward in their industry, They are currently in the finalstages of the new VMU (workshop) being built with brilliant facilities to ensure your team can work as efficiently as possible!Job Purpose

  • To ensure O License and all other required legislation for the running of the commercial Fleet are fully complied with at all times through diligent inspection, maintenance and repair which can be evidenced through detailed record keeping.
  • Manage the VMUs within the business to meet or exceed all financial, quality, compliance and safety targets.
  • Ensure that our in house VMU services are operated optimally. Be the subject matter expert for all VMU requirements.
Specific Responsibilities and Objectives
  • Provide direction and guidance to the inhouse VMU maintenance team on repair and inspection regime ensuring compliance.
  • Develop the VMU team through effective coaching, mentoring and objective setting.
  • Monitor VMU maintenance KPIs and instigate corrective actions as required.
  • Ensure full compliance with all statutory and legislative obligations
  • To remain aware of industry standards and new design developments, making recommendations for efficiency and cost improvement.
  • To advise and support sites in the actions required to complete accident repairs and meet the requirements of insurers.
  • Ensure compliance of our Operators Licence to include defect repair process, planning of inspections and MOTs.
  • Control the on hire and off hire process of all rental equipment ensuring that our exposure to any return condition costs are kept to a minimum through negotiation and effective repair..
  • Manage suppliers through agreed SLAs to maximise equipment uptime and monitor performance through regular meetings in particular Volvo and Vaculug.
  • Ensure compliance in use of all software relating to VMU Maintenance, especially Blue Crystal.
  • Identify any damage defect trends in fleet and individual equipment; implement corrective actions to reduce.
  • Manage stores, inventory and procurement process to provide optimum stock levels to meet demand whilst reducing capital deployed and obsolescence risk through impress stock.
  • Monitor and manage all external maintenance spend ensuring that Buffaload liability for costs are minimised.
  • Budget and P&L ownership for VMUs
  • Execute Fleet innovations to support safety, compliance and cost improvements.
  • Checking all non-standard invoicesdamage, breakdown, recovery.
  • Manage the Companys Motor Insurance policy and claims handling process.
  • Through the admin team, provide relevant paperwork to comply with health and safety and industry standards and legislation.
  • Provide excellent customer service with a proactive attitude to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Effectively manage the roadside breakdown and recovery process.
  • Investigate and propose preventative maintenance measures and processes that will enhance equipment life and reduce failure rates.
  • Champion the ethos of excellence in the standard and finish of all repairs, maintenance and refurbishment.
  • Ensure that the VMU team work proactively with the Yard team in the identification and reporting of defects.
  • Manage livery defects in line with regular service schedules, maintaining brand integrity

  • Where your role involves the control, administration and/or handling of food product you must ensure that product safety, legality and quality systems are adhered to at all times.
