Job Description

This is a 1-year fixed term contract for a Post-Doctoral Researcher for a Cambridge based company who have been going for almost 30 years! They spun out of the university and having had huge success working with organic displays, theyve now broadened theirscope and are working on some fascinating technologies in some interesting industries.If thats not enough to tempt you to join them; theyre also offering some very generous benefits in addition to a competitive salary. The company is based about 20 minutes (drive) north of Cambridge with very easy access to the A1, A14, M11, etc.So, what exactly is the role and who are we looking forYoull be one face of a cross-disciplinary team including chemists, physicists and biochemists, working on the development of fluorescent tags and seeing how they perform in a range of biological applications.Either someone with a PhD in a relevant biological discipline or someone with a degree in a biological discipline and plenty of relevant experience in an industrial or academic environment would be perfect. The most important thing is that you have extensive experience in one of these areas:

  • Fluorescence-based assay development and optimisation for the detection of proteins or nucleic acids
  • Surface chemistry strategies for immobilisation of proteins and nucleic acids to surfaces
You might also have worked with statistical analysis and used MiniTab, or be familiar with characterisation methods such as binding kinetics or binding affinity, surface functionalisation, purification and characterisation of nanoparticles, microarray, celllabelling, gel electrophoresis and flow cytometry. You may also have some programming ability for automation of data analysis.
