Partner Designate - Rural Sector - £60,000 - 70,000 - Huntingdon, CambridgeshireWhen you completed your ACA/ACCA, how long did you think it would take to become a partner Ten years Fifteen maybeSo, where are you now And whats your plan Keep putting in the long hours Ramp up the networking Hope your boss decides to spend more time on the golf course soonOr, you could just move.This is your chance to walk straight into a Top-20 practice in a senior Head of Department role.The idea is that youd come in and spend a few months working alongside the current Head of Rural Team to learn the ropes. After that, the jobs yours - and whilst youd be subject the usual budget constraints and the companys overall strategy, it would be quite like running your own successful business-within-a-business.Succeed and a year from now you could be a director. Thats around the same time as the gestation period of an Alpaca. Alpacas are just one of the subjects youll soon know a lot more about - your client base here are farmers.If you have a countryside connection or youre already working in the rural sector, great.But what matters most is that you have the personality and patience to win the respect of busy agricultural business owners, some of whom would rather be hosing down the cow shed than counting beans with you.Of course, not every farmer fits that stereotype. One of the more fulfilling aspects here is helping a huge variety of clients.High net worth individuals with King Lear-esque IHT issues; youll need to know your APR from your BPR. Agritech start-ups looking to diversify their income streams. Restructures, demergers. Complex Capex and Fixed Asset questions - when was the last time one of your clients bought a 500-horsepower combine harvester worth £300KAlongside your influencing skills (and a good pair of wellies), youll need the ability to manage other team members - theyll take care of day-to-day accounts and billing while youre building relationships and solving strategic problems.
