Job Description

We are an innovative and forward-thinking Local Authority whose residents are at the heart of our decision making.Using your well-honed leadership skills, you will lead the Information Governance team (supported by a deputy) to continue to build on a program of work to ensure that that the 3C Partners (Cambridge City, Huntingdonshire and South Cambridgeshire DistrictCouncils) are accountable, transparent, uphold the rights of access under information law including but not limited to FOIA, EIR, PECR, and UK GDPR and have robust data protection and transparency practices embedded.In addition, you will also act as the Data Protection Officer (DPO) as defined under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

  • Monitoring compliance with the Regulation and other applicable laws and regulations and with the relevant policies of the three Councils data controllers, this includes assignment of responsibilities, awareness and training, and relevant audits.
  • Liaising with the Information Commissioners Office as required (Article 39) (1) (a) - (e).
  • Advising on the data protection impact assessment (DPIA) process and monitoring its performance.
  • Informing and advising the three Councils as data controllers and their employees of their obligations under the Regulation and other applicable laws and regulations.
