The business values are the bedrock of their culture.The business imagines new ways to mitigate risk within the built environment across Fire, Security and ContinuityThe RoleFire ConsultantThe Huntingdon office in Cambridgeshire is building a team and looking to add skills and capabilities. The office currently has design and engineering, fire assurance and risk management capability, but would like to strengthen the team with someone who has strong construction or building pathology knowledge.As a senior member of staff, you will be responsible for developing and providing leadership within the fire discipline to a team of fire consultants, surveyors and engineers. You will be expected to clearly communicate the company’s vision and values in order to implement strategies that support the business in achieving them. You will require excellent people skills, business acumen and exemplary work ethics in order to assist with the management of graduates and engineers in your team.In addition, you will contribute to company wide initiatives that deliver on our values and improve company performance. This will principally be through our Professional Advisory Board (PAB) which supports the development of new and existing services, the development of our people, provides oversight of our professional standards and knowledge management.As you will act as Project Manager for a variety of project types, at different stages of development (design, construction and in-use), you will need a broad range of technical competence and be comfortable leading and managing work winning, project planning, performance management and reporting from proposal acceptance, initiation to project close. You will prepare, and develop fire strategies, calculations, analysis, schematics, drawings, diagrams, models, specifications and other documents relating to the project. You will liaise with members of the clients design team and other associated organisations and companies.Your focus will be to ensure:You achieve your commercial targets;Project and team risks are communicated and managed;Compliance with applicable statutory requirements and company policies and procedures;Projects are delivered successfully;Your team are mentored and motivated;Effective working relationships are maintained internally, with clients and with stakeholders.You win the right types of projects, paying close attention to pricing and effective resource management.Key SkillsThe candidate would ideally have a minimum 2 years’ experience working in a fire engineering role and have a recognised fire safety qualification or strong experience in fire safety fields. Very good interpersonal skills and demonstrable experience of developing and maintaining close links with colleagues, clients and contractors are essential. The candidate should be a member of the Institution of Fire Engineers and working towards registration with the Engineering Council.The candidate must be personable, have a sense of humour, have a full driving licence, be competent with Microsoft office packages and IT literate, be confident with direct client relationships, be proactive, a team player and have a commercial understanding.Important Information: We endeavour to process your personal data in a fair and transparent manner.
