Job Description

Playfords Limited are recruiting for a new and exciting Estimating Manager position based in our Head offices, Huntingdon.Estimating Manager - ElectricalHuntingdon£45,000 - £55,000 per annum dependent on experienceFull Time, PermanentPlease Note: Applicants must be eligible to work in the UKAbout the Role:The role of the Estimating Manager will be to take responsibility for and manage our existing estimating team producing highly detailed and specific tender proposals for the various works we tender across the UK.These works can include:

  • Multi-disciplinary projects where we partner with mechanical services companies from our supply chain that we are looking to expand, providing us with more opportunities to secure multi-disciplinary projects and enhancing our portfolio of services.
  • Providing estimating and industry expertise assisting Playfords to secure project works through tender and proposal submissions.
  • Building relationships with existing and new clients as well as expanding Playfords supply chain relationships.
About You:The successful candidate will be someone who can secure tender opportunities through their thorough and detailed tender proposals, as well as identifying the correct opportunities to suit Playfords.Attention to detail, technical expertise and the ability to present thorough information in a structured and professional way will be key to securing this opportunity. The successful candidate should be able to present confidently our tender submission toour potential clients or customers to demonstrate a full understanding of the tender requirement in detail ensuring our bids are persuasive.Building working relationships with key suppliers, manufacturers and wholesalers is also a key skill to ensure the most suitable and cost-effective solutions are included within tender submissions.Strong organisation and management skills will be essential to allow the completion of multiple tender proposals from all areas of our business. You will be able to motivate, mentor and guide our existing estimating team as well as identifying efficienciesand improvements within our working practices to streamline our estimating abilities.Working closely with Playfords senior management team to report and update regularly on tender proposals and current opportunities the successful candidate will be able to report specific and clear information regularly to assist with the ongoing futureexpansion plans of the business.The successful candidate will be working on complex projects which will involve mechanical & electrical installations across a wide sector of industries including, NHS trusts, industrial works, factory installations, new build commercial properties and buildingrefurbishments.Playfords boasts strong existing client relationships, and it will be key for the successful person to be able to build upon those relationships as well as bring potential new opportunities to consider.Candidates will have:
  • The necessary technical skills to be able to estimate electrical installation work efficiently and in accordance with the National Working Rules for the Electrical Contracting Industry, the current IET Wiring Regulations for the Requirements of ElectricalInstallations BS7671, and the Construction Industry Safety Regulations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Experience of estimating projects within the electrical/mechanical industry
  • Excellent IT Skills
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills
  • Ability to work under own initiative and with an exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to mentor and manage a team of estimators
  • Ability to work to deadlines and on multiple opportunities at the same time
  • Willingness to travel to complete surveys, attend meetings to allow the collation of detailed outputs for review to assist with the estimating and tender proposal submissions
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Right to Work in the UK
