We are an innovative and forward-thinking Local Authority whose residents are at the heart of our decision making.Huntingdonshire District Council is seeking to recruit 2 x CCTV Monitoring Centre Operators to work in its Shared Service with Cambridge City to monitor and physically operate public CCTV cameras for public safety, and to detect and deter crime and disorder.We are recruiting two permanent 27 hours P/W roles within the team to cover all periods of operations. Your shifts will be a variation of nights and days consisting of 3 x 9.5 hour and shifts including weekends based out of our offices in Huntingdon.The shared service team also operates the Out Of Hours (OOH) emergency call handling service to the public for both councils on evenings and weekends and a Lone Worker service and other monitoring services are planned for future growth.Working closely with Cambridgeshire Police on incident management, other clients and partner agencies with the aim to make the areas of coverage safer for the public, while respecting their right to privacy.Handling and dealing sensitively to members of the public who may be experiencing an emergency situation, calling OOH emergency lines requires a calm, compassionate, understanding but practical attitude to positively assist and or advise as requiredThe role can be exciting and demanding at times during emergencies and requires a cool professional and calm approach to situations that can vary greatly.When required, staff assist police and others to download data for potential evidence or prosecution purposes whilst maintaining strict confidentiality at all times.This role is within a 24/7 operation and you will be operating on a three day week of 9.5 hour shifts with a minimum of twelve hours rest between shifts, (30-minute rest break required per shift). A shift premium is paid for this role of 10% in additionto salary.Successful candidates will require to obtain and retain the necessary SIA CCTV licence for which training is provided and shall pass and retain appropriate police vetting for the role due to sensitive information sharing and use of police radio.
