Job Description

Bid Writer - required for my client in based out of their office in Huntingdon. The Bid Writer position is to join one of the largest Civil Engineering Contractors in their pre-contracts team. The company specialises within highways andbridges, river and marine, utilities and energy, rail, as well as the environmental sectors. They would also consider applications for a Trainee/Junior Bid Writer from the right candidate and would support their development/progression.The Bid Writer will have experience within the Civil Engineering or Construction Industry and have previously worked as a BID Writer or a Bid Coordinator. The BID Writer will be taking ownership of delivering bids across a wide range of values, sectors andservices with values ranging from thousands to multi-millions. The BID Writer will have the ability to write a creative and compelling copy which communicates the companys solutions to tender opportunities, the most suitable individual will be willing togo the extra mile and have the ability to generate winning submission material from scratch.Bid Writer Position Overview

  • Produce technical and professional documents to support tender submissions
  • Prepare relevant responses to tender/PQQ/SQ questions with support from specialist teams including key requirements such as methodologies, risk assessments and sustainability etc
  • Manage compilation and continuous updates for the submission library
  • Collect information for and produce case studies and CVs.
  • Assist with bid management on tenders - progression to bid manage own specific projects
  • Investigate value engineering and innovation opportunities.
  • Communication with third parties such as designers, consultants and supply chain
  • Support tender teams in compiling and attending Client facing presentations
  • Assist in developing procedures and systems to ensure efficient and effective operation of the department
  • Provide support and assistance to the pre-contract and contracts departments
Bid Writer Position Requirements
  • Civil Engineering/Construction experience
  • Experience in bid / content writing working as a Bid Writer or a Bid Coordinator
  • Demonstrable history of research and long and short form writing
  • Good IT skills with experience of Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, Visio and Adobe
  • Problem solving skills with a drive to improve, excellent literacy and proof-reading skills
  • A full UK driving licence with available transport is essential
  • Critical thinking and evaluation skills, with the desire to consistently improve
  • Ability to generate winning submission material from scratch
