Job Description

Leeds-based home decor ecommerce retailer and manufacturer is looking for an Operations Director with a minimum of 3 years’ experience running busy lean warehouses and leading manufacturing teams. Please read the job description fully before applyingThe role is a 5 from 7 working week, with some weekend working and shift rotation expected.You will directly report to the Board of Directors. This is a key role for us, one that is suitable for someone who wants to make a big difference in a company that values work-life balance, whilst being home for passionate and focused people.The role is responsible for DC inbound, outbound, return + Assembly operationsThe core of the role covers:

  • Leading the Managers within the Warehouse and Manufacture / Assembly teams - mentoring through empowerment and ensuring the smooth running and development of their teams
  • Ensuring the Warehouse and Manufacturing teams run on a Lean system
  • Spearheading cost control and service level management
  • Managing Health & Safety throughout our 60+ person HQ
  • Responsibility for the overall smooth running of our HQ premises
  • Your must-haves:
  • Experience of this role (inc. manufacturing experience) for a minimum of 3 years
  • A genuine passion for people development, with a "one team" approach
  • You will be a natural leader, experienced in engaged collaboration with stakeholders and departmental heads throughout a business
  • Strong experience of taking the lead on managing health and safety
  • Experience in budgetary management and control: being able to articulate KPIs, SLAs and performance back to costs on all areas of responsibility
  • Able to demonstrate an ability to understand a high degree of detail and complex scenarios in a Warehouse environment - unpicking complex processes will be needed
  • Highly advantageous for this role:
  • Experience of LEAN or SIX SIGMA theories and approaches

    A bit more about the teams you will leadThe warehouse team is a mixture of pickers, packers and goods in/out staff.The manufacturing and assembly team produce finished products, such as lighting, from components from multiple suppliers. They also produce bespoke products for our customise a product’ options on the website.They have recently moved to our new premises and although we have some good processes in place, we have work to do to get to the Lean warehouse that we want to get to.
