Job Description

Job Title: Sous ChefLocation: HucknallPay rate/Salary: £24,000Hours of Work: 40 (Alternate weekend work required)Type: PermanentStart Date: Immediately (flexible for notice periods)We are hiring for a Sous Chef to work within a care home that is experienced in delivering high quality service, assisting the head chef with food preparation and can demonstrate a strong ability to work under pressure while delivering to a high standard.You will be part of a highly dynamic, dedicated, and enthusiastic team who are motivated by making a difference.Duties of a Sous Chef:You will be responsible for:

  • Food preparation
  • work with our Chef Manager and Kitchen team to support the homes aim of delivering high standards to residents by providing nutritious, varied, and well-balanced meals that are safely and hygienically prepared and served
  • Oversee the kitchen in the chefs absence, meet high standards of food hygiene and professionalism, and train your team to learn new cooking techniques
  • Managing the kitchen and health & safety requirements
  • Managing inventory and keeping control of stock
Skills and experience of a Sous Chef:As a Sous Chef, you need have experience with:
  • Working within a fast-paced environment
  • Handling food and other ingredients in a safe & healthy manner
  • Coordinating with the head chef and other members of the kitchen team to ensure high levels of quality and efficiency
  • Preparing a variety of different meals and menu options
It would be beneficial to the Sous Chef if you also had:
  • Previous sous chef / head chef experience (essential)
  • Care Home experience (Desirable)
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (essential)
