Job Description

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIESPayroll Processing: You are responsible for assisting in processing payroll accurately and in compliance with relevant laws and regulations. You will work with payroll software to streamline the process and ensure accurate record-keeping.Onboarding & Offboarding: When new employees join the organisation, youll need to collect and verify their employment information, set up their payroll profiles, and ensure they complete any necessary tax forms. Likewise, when employeesleave the company, youll need to process their final pay and ensure any remaining benefits or deductions are accounted for.Benefits Administration: Manage employee benefits programs, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and online portals. This includes enrolling new employees, facilitating changes to existing benefit plans, and coordinating with insuranceproviders or benefits administrators.Payroll Reporting and Compliance: You will be responsible for generating payroll reports, both for internal use and to meet regulatory requirements. These reports may include details on wages, taxes, deductions, and benefits. Its crucialto ensure compliance with laws, tax regulations, and any other applicable legal requirements.Record-Keeping: Maintaining accurate and confidential employee records is essential. This includes payroll records, benefits enrolment forms, and other related documentation.Reporting: You will support the development and generation of reports related to payroll, benefits costs, and other relevant metrics. These reports help management make informed decisions and ensure financial accountability.Communication: Act as the first point of contact for employees regarding payroll and benefits-related inquiries, such as discrepancies or benefit plan details. You will also communicate with external vendors, such as insurance providersor retirement plan administrators.Employee Education: Educating employees on payroll processes, benefits options, and any changes in policies or regulations is part of the role. This can include conducting training sessions, creating informational materials, or providingindividual guidance.Customer First: Ensure that all activity is challenged and assessed as best practice and legally compliant, seek to create and lead a proactive customer first People team.One Team: Working collaboratively across all areas of People as required and undertaking reasonable tasks as requested by colleagues and line managersKNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Solid experience in payroll processing (monthly & fortnight), day to day and cyclical requirements
  • Understanding and working knowledge of payroll regulation and requirements including Tax, NI, SSP & SMP
  • Familiarity with payroll software and systems; experience with implementing or upgrading payroll systems is a plus alongside a knowledge of i-Trent is desirable.
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills, with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain payroll concepts to non-technical individuals
  • Ability to effectively plan and manage your own workload and delivering to agreed deadlines
  • Understanding auto enrolment and pension administration
  • Working ability to use MS Packages and advance skills in Excel
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with apprentices and stakeholders
